Rockett Science reader eric h has been giving advice to frustrated My Coke Rewards participants in the comments on “You know what? Screw my Coke Rewards Points.” Today, Eric revealed that he is an employee of the Coca-Cola company. Is he for real? Time will tell, although he did drop the insider news that the discontinued Vanilla Coke flavor is coming back next week.
(As I wrote “Is he for real?” I wondered to myself why someone would pose as a Coke employee. But then I remembered that when I signed up for AOL back in the mid-90s I tried to create the user account “ColonelSanders”. I planned to go into chat rooms and try to steer every conversation toward the subject of chicken. Sadly, AOL denied me the user name.)
I’m assuming that the views expressed in Eric’s comments do not necessarily reflect the views of his employer.

Dude in this post you have up here putting me out on front street. I didnt say anything bad about the Coca-Cola Company. I was just saying Vanilla Coke is making a comeback and a new Vanilla Coke Zero will be out aswell. I have only tried to help out confused and frustrated users of the mycokerewards.com program. So if anything maybe i should get a thank you for dropping some knowledge on you people.
Did you get all the promotional points i put on the other post?
WADE ROCKETT. You will be pleased to know that we are coming out with Coke De Mexico that is made, shipped, and sold right here in the states some time this summer. But of course it will only be in select markets.
Coke De Mexico is Coca-Cola Classic made from real sugar cane and served in a glass bottle for everyone who loves the true classi coke taste.
Eric,
I posted that because I was excited that someone from Coke was actually participating in this conversation. I wasn’t trying to put you on the spot.
I really appreciate everything that you’ve contributed, and I’m sure everyone else does, too. (And yes, I just entered the codes - thank you very much for that.)
I added that bit about how your comments probably don’t reflect the opinions of Coke because I’m assuming that you’re not here as an official representative of the company. I figure that you’re just just a decent guy with some insider knowledge who’s trying to clear things up for frustrated customers.
Also, that is awesome news about Coke De Mexico. I pick up an occasional bottle of Mexican Coke from the Hispanic market down the street.
Oh, okay. I guess i just took that the wrong way. I am glad I could help you out.
Mmmmm. Mexican Coke.
I’ll have a batch for Cinco de Game Night tonight.
I think the official date is May 14 for the Mexican Coke.
Actually, I bought seven bottles last night. And two bottles of Coke Light (Mexican Diet Coke).
There are a number of small places locally that can get it.
Here in Washington State, we’re close enough that Canadian Coke is also plentiful.
I read a newspaper article a few months back saying that Coca-Cola was trying to block the distribution of Coke from Mexico in this country, because of the agreements that it has with its bottlers in the States. (Coke from Mexico being what Eric F. bought, right? Probably at a Hispanic market?)
However, there’s no law against bringing in Coke from Mexico, and there’s certainly a demand for it here. So if I understand what Eric H is saying, it sounds as if Coke will resolve this problem by bottling and distributing “Mexican formula” Coke in the U.S.
Si?
That is correct WADE ROCKETT. Thank you for clearing that up. The only law for bringing in Coca-Cola beverages in the states is that it has to have a nutrition label on it. So if it has a sticker with the nutritional facts on it then it was most likely brought in through the proper channels. Now if it doesnt have the label on there then chances are your little Mexican Tienda probably knows a guy who knows a guy(if you know what i mean) and is getting it at a very discounted rate. The product is a lot cheaper from Mexico anyway so if they sell you a bottle for a dollar they are making about %20 profit anyway. Where as if they buy it from a Coca-Cola distribution center here in the states they will only make pennies on the dollar. So maybe he could hook you up with a discount. But then again probably not because of the whole supply and demand.
It wasn’t a small mom-and-pop. It was a really nice grocery store.
Wade, I’ll tell you how to get there next time you come to Game Night. It’s on your way home.
Hey Eric H,
Any specific dates for when Vanilla Coke or Vanilla Coke Zero ought to be on the market (:?
i LOVE vanilla coke. omg.
MUFFIN- as of Monday, May 14th 2007 you should see it in every store. I know all of my accounts have every package available (12 pack 12oz. can,20oz. bottle, 2 liter bottle, and a 12oz trial size bottle). The 12oz bottle is priced at $0.50. Anything else just let me know.
Ok…so I’m a huge vanilla coke fan and I have been looking every where for it since i found out it was coming back, and I haven’t been able to find it. Is this only in certain areas that is being re-released?
Hey, They listened !, I was so frustrated when vanilla coke was discontinued. I reverted to just plain coke for awhile after trying the black cherry vanilla. It just wasn’t near as good. I found a bottle of vanilla syrup at the grocery store and had been making my version of vanilla coke. It was mighty close but just not the same. I went to the store today to buy coke classic and a bottle of vanilla syrup for making my vanilla coke. I looked over and saw a carton of “coke vanilla”. I had to lok at it 3 times, I couldn’t believe it. I put the coke classic back on the shelf and grabbed the vanilla coke. I ccouldn’t wait to get home to drink some. Finally, I opened it, and yes! there just isn’t anything like the real thing. Vanilla Coke lives on. Thank You Coke.
HEATHER F- Yes, Vanilla Coke is re-released everywhere.
Awesome. I haven’t seen it yet - I’ll keep an eye out!
I seriously cant believe you guys havent seen it yet.
I think I saw that not to long ago here in Cincinnati, some Vanilla Coke, I could be wrong, it could’ve been that black cherry vanilla stuff, but I think that it might have been it. I used to LOVE that stuff back in the day.
does anyone know when it should be here in Indiana? i still haven’t seen Vanilla coke around here.
hmm. i think its just some places dont restock new stuff until they get new shipments. here around the dayton area there is only one place taht currently has vanilla coke and that is a local speedway gas station. you should check big stores like walmart and the likes as they get new shipments all the time. i havent checked mine but i bet they would have tons of it. also gas stations because they go through their small stock quickly.
oh ok thanks…. i went to the grocery store today and they had it… i have two big 2 liter bottles of vanilla coke now :D:D
lol
STEVE- big 2 liter bottles? as oppossed to the little 2 liter bottles.
I picked up a 20 oz. at a gas station a couple of weeks ago, and am now seeing it all over the place here in Seattle. This is a good thing.
Screw Coke and their sad, sad ways! First it was “let’s discontinue a product after only a few years that is clearly selling” (it was frequently out of — or at least low in — stock in my area)…now they’re bringing it back!?! Having played this “trick” with New Coke/Coke Classic, they ought to bring Britney Spears over from Pepsi for a “Whoops! I did it again” campaign. Too bad what they did was screw with the consumers!!! Since they dropped Vanilla Coke the FIRST time around, I’ve found a source for the vanilla syrup to use at home…much better tasting, anyhow…..
