Unearthed notes on SXSWi gaming panel at The New Marketing May 25, 2007

While weeding old messages from my Outlook inbox at work, I came across a set of notes from SXSWi that I didn’t know I took! Note-taking was dodgy there because my laptop battery was all but dead, but apparently I managed to dash these off and mail them to myself. (And then promptly forget about them.)
It’s Joi Ito and Justin Hall dropping science on “Online Games: Beyond Play and Fantasy”. I posted the notes on The New Marketing if’n you’re interested.

I’m very, very busy this week trying to wrap things up before I fly to Austin early Friday morning. I’m writing Flash scripts, doing research for case studies, editing a podcast, briefing other writers on what I’ve been doing so they can cover for me while I’m away, completing timesheets, yada yada etc.
If you desperately miss hearing from me, you may enjoy watching me think out loud on Twitter. “Is Wade finding it difficult to purchase a particular Buzzcocks song online?” you may be wondering. Twitter has the answer!

If you’re attending the South by Southwest Interactive festival this year, keep an eye out for the shifty character pictured on the right. From March 9-13 I’ll be hanging out with the high-metabolism world dominators and arm-waving visionaries of the digital realm in the great state of Texas.
The array of speakers and panelists is mind blowing: from my college-age heroes Richard Garriott and Chris Gore to novelist Sean Stewart, whose company 42 Entertainment creates high tech campaigns that mash up reality and fiction in dazzling ways.
And the panels - good Lord. I don’t even know where to begin.
Hope to see you there!
