Pastor Calls For Microsoft Boycott Over Gay Civil Rights
POSTED: 10:10 pm EST January 16, 2006
OLYMPIA, Wash. — A Redmond, Wash., pastor is calling for a national boycott of Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and other companies that support a gay civil rights bill.
The Rev. Ken Hutcherson is pastor of Antioch Bible Church in the Seattle suburb of Redmond.
He said he will formally issue the boycott Thursday on the conservative radio show “Focus on the Family.”
Last week, several companies, including Microsoft, Boeing, Hewlett Packard and Nike signed a letter urging passage of the measure, which would add “sexual orientation” to a state law that already bans discrimination.
Microsoft is restoring its support for the proposal a year after the company was denounced for quietly dropping its endorsement.
I know that this boycott isn’t going to take off; but wouldn’t it be crazy if it did, and as a result the Christian Right was responsible for widespread adoption of Linux on the desktop?
