Such is the life of a marketing copywriter

As of this morning I know more about flow cytometry than I ever would have imagined. Especially given that until two days ago, I’d never heard of flow cytometry.

    From writing about computers to writing about flow cytometry, how’d you handle that?

    Ah! For starts, the instruments use computers to collect and display their results. Also, I once worked in the IT department of a company that makes medical diagnostic equipment. So my computer experience, plus my basic familiarity with diagnostic instruments and the people who use them, plus an hour of quick research, gave me enough background to ask informed questions during the interview. Those questions elicited good, clear answers from the experts I talked to – and that’ll make writing the piece easy. Nothing beats a good interview!
