Amazon’s A9 switches from Google Search to Windows Live Search

1 May

I juggled Windows Live and the personalized Google home page for a while, comparing the two; and after a while I decided that I preferred Google’s more mature offering. However, I use the A9 toolbar for search, which up until now still kept me in Google’s world ’cause it was powered by Google Search

No longer! The Google Operating System blog (via Microsoft Watch) reports that A9 has switched to Windows Live Search. I’m wondering if, in the course of normal usage, I’ll notice a difference.

This 2004 John Battelle post about the A9 launch is even more interesting in light of these developments, as well as the move of A9’s Udi Manber to Google. Quite a shakeup!
