Or anyone else’s, apparently; but this story in the Newport Daily News suggests that this exciting event could actually happen someday.
Dean Kamen, inventor of the Segway, has developed a device the size of a dorm-room fridge that turns tainted liquid into drinkable water. Kamen demonstrated the device at a 2004 technology conference by joining organizer Richard Wurman in drinking a fresh glass of pure water distilled from Kamen’s own pee. Kamen says,
“One of the people who I know has been speaking about the machines is Bono. He had heard about our machines and he spends a lot of time traveling to Africa. We talked about it and apparently every night this week at his concerts in Boston, he’s talked a little bit about it.”
You had the same reaction I did, didn’t you? You’re reading along, and when you get to the part that says, …apparently every night this week at his concerts in Boston, you mentally finish the sentence with, …he drinks his own urine in front of the audience.
How great would that be? Dammit, Bono, talk is cheap! The only way you can really prove to the world how confident you are in this solution is to try it yourself. Drink your pee in front of millions!
