   And here I thought you’d picked a new book up to cleanse the palate after Gravity’s Rainbow.

   I haven’t read this one, mainly because I read its “sequel,” by Mike McGrady, “Stranger than Naked,” in which he details how he and his colleagues at Newsday wrote the book as a hoax, and intentionally tried to fill this novel with the worst possible prose.
