Wolfgang Baur is the Seattle P-I’s Geek of the Week.
Play is one of the fundamental joys and fundamental behaviors of all humans. Yet we look down on it as less valuable than education or work, somehow less worthy. This is a pernicious, Puritan lie: games are universal in human culture, and contribute to happiness, as any cognitive psychologist will tell you. Our country was founded on the “pursuit of happiness” — so go play, and pursue a strategy of joy.

Incidentally, I saw Wolfgang Baur and the Strategy of Joy when they opened for New Order in ’89. Awesome show.
