Where to find me at Gen Con Online 2021

15 Aug

It’s convention season again, and once again I’ll be attending Gen Con Online via Twitch! I don’t have any games scheduled, but you can find me on two Pelgrane Press seminars. Once again I’ll join Rob Heinsoo to design a new monster for 13th Age using input from the audience, this time along with the talented Liz Argall and J-M DeFoggi (who developed my adventure Crown of Axis.) Also, last year’s Dramatic Interaction in RPGs Masterclass was one of my favorite parts of Gen Con Online 2020 and I’m incredibly honored to be invited onto this year’s panel!

Where to Find me at Gen Con Online 2020

26 Jul

Online tabletop gaming is booming as people look for new ways to connect and socialize while weathering the global COVID-19 pandemic in lockdown. I’ve already run many roleplaying games using platforms such as Zoom, Discord, Slack, Google Meet, and the ultra-simple whiteboarding tool Jamboard.

And now the mighty Gen Con itself is going virtual! I’ll be participating in two online seminars this year—here’s where you can find me:

DramaSystem RPG: Darke and Stormy Nights

Description: DramaSystem is a game of emotional conflict and interpersonal drama between player characters. In this episode, inspired by the Gothic soap opera Dark Shadows, two conniving families of American aristocrats—the Storms and the Darkes—seek to control the fortunes of the coastal New England town of Storm Cove. But a terrible, centuries-old curse is about to once again make its presence felt…

13th Age Monster Workshop

I’ll also be at the ENnie Awards and the Black Book v2 Launch Party (w/ Lovecraft Virtual Tour). The Black Book is a phenomenal GUMSHOE roleplaying system character creation tool and I strongly recommend it if you GM or play Night’s Black Agents, Trail of Cthulhu, Fall of DELTA GREEN, and other GUMSHOE games.

See you at Gen Con!

OrcaCon 2019: Join Me for DramaSystem, Night’s Black Agents, and Fall of DELTA GREEN

28 Dec

I’ll be running Pelgrane Press roleplaying games at OrcaCon 2019 in Bellevue, WA January 11-13. There are still seats open at my sessions — if any of these strike your fancy, sign up to play.

Friday

perveniet-calixPerveniet Calix (DramaSystem/Hillfolk), 7:00 p.m. – midnight

A secret cabal within MI6 has made an unholy alliance with vampires to fight the war on terror. As a sleeper cell of Operation Edom working undercover in the U.S., your secret life and the supernatural horrors you face take their toll: rivalries, resentments, and forbidden desires threaten to tear you apart. Can you keep your cell intact, and survive the terrible ordeals to come? Is the cost worth it?

Saturday

Hillfolk_Cover_reduced1Ragnarok (DramaSystem/Hillfolk), 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

In this game of emotional drama and interpersonal conflict, you are beings of fallen Asgard – valkyries, giants, dwarves – fleeing with the surviving gods in a massive starship. Now you journey through a dark and hostile galaxy searching for a new home; but not even Ragnarok can quench your fiery passions, or heal the bitterness dividing you.

deltaOperation ALADDIN’S CAVE (Fall of DELTA GREEN), 7:00 p.m. – midnight

It’s 1968. Your team of DELTA GREEN agents has been assigned a mission in war-torn Vietnam—and a confrontation with cosmic horror. U.S. forces recently captured a Viet Cong tunnel complex in Quang Tri province near the DMZ. They may have removed something from that tunnel complex. Investigate this possible outbreak of the unnatural, and contain it by any means necessary.

Sunday

nightsblackBlood Coda (Night’s Black Agents), 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

It’s 1971, and a famous Romanian ballet company has defected to the West. But your covert team of vampire-hunting MI6 agents suspects that the Ballet Brasov has a dark secret. Is Dracula once again active in England? If so, who among the company are his servants?
